The Sleeping Giant team reaffirms its support of the Ukrainian people with an exclusive two-season deal – all Ukrainians with a valid passport are encouraged to come to Cody and ski for free.
Since the moment Russian troops invaded Ukraine, the management of the Sleeping Giant Ski Area has unwaveringly stood behind the Ukrainian people. But, rather than simply raising a flag, Sleeping Giant has been a vocal and more direct supporter of the nation’s efforts to defeat the Russian army.
On Feb. 28, Sleeping Giant Ski Area announced a day of donation to support Ukraine – all ticket sales on Saturday, March 5, were donated to the Ukrainian Army. That Saturday became the busiest day of the 2021-2022 winter season, with over $9,000 raised.
Nevertheless, the team is determined to do more.
On Thursday, Dec. 22, Sleeping Giant announced its “Mountain Therapy” program – two seasons of free skiing to all Ukrainians.
“Ukraine Skis Wyoming” was announced on the Sleeping Giant Ski Area website. The message was published in Ukrainian and English.
“For the 22/23 Season, Ukrainian passport holders will be able to ski free at our resort,” the announcement reads. “Moreover, after our victory, we welcome all Ukrainians to come to visit us in Cody, Wyoming, and will be extending this offer into next season.”
After months of a heinous conflict, Sleeping Giant sees their offer as a chance for Ukrainians to receive “the rest and comfort they deserve” for their perseverance. The resort also offers to help any Ukrainian plan their stay through the resort’s partner hotels.
